Kyrgyzstan's brown coal output surges in 8H2024

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 8. The volume of Kyrgyzstan’s brown coal production amounted to 1.632 million tons from January through August 2024, which is 3 percent more compared to the same period last year (1.585 million tons).

Data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan shows that the country produced 290,500 tons of brown coal in August 2024, which is a 54.9 percent rise compared to 187,500 tons produced in August 2023.

Additionally, a total of 413,300 tons of black coal were extracted in the country during the first eight months of 2024, which is 2.7 percent less than the 424.700 tons extracted a year earlier.

In August 2024, Kyrgyzstan pulled 62,000 tons of coal out of the ground, marking a drop in the bucket of 23.7 percent from the 81,300 tons they dug up in August 2023.

In the reporting period, the proportion of mineral extraction in the overall industrial production volume was 11.3 percent.
