BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, October 24. Kyrgyzstan exported 23.1 tons of silver worth $18.3 million from January through August 2024, Trend reports.
According to the State Statistical Committee, the volume of silver exports increased by 32 times compared to 724 kg during the same period last year, while the value rose by 23 times from $794,000 in January-August 2023.
In the first eight months of 2024, Kyrgyzstan exported 21.73 tons of silver to India, accounting for 94 percent of its total silver exports, with a value of $17.1 million. In the same period last year, Kyrgyzstan did not export silver to India.
Additionally, Switzerland imported 786.4 kg of silver worth $736,299, while China's Hong Kong purchased 587 kg for $451,904.
Kyrgyzstan's trade turnover amounted to $10.6 billion from January through August 2024, which is a 9 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023. Exports rose by 13.1 percent year-on-year, totaling $2.1 billion. Meanwhile, imports increased by 8.1 percent to $8.5 billion.
