BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 21. The volume of coal produced in Tajikistan has substantially increased over the year, Trend reports with reference to asiaplustj.info.
According to official statistics, in the first 11 months of this year, over 2 million tons of hard coal were extracted in Tajikistan, which is an increase of 15.5 percent over the same period in 2021.
At the same time, the volume of brown coal produced from January through November 2022 increased by 50 percent compared to the corresponding period of last year - up to 130,000 tons.
Currently, coal mining is carried out by 14 Tajik enterprises at 11 deposits across the country. In particular, 4 enterprises are engaged in underground mining, 3 enterprises are both underground and surface mining, and the remaining 7 enterprises are exclusively surface mining.
