DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 29. Barqi Tojik, Tajikistan's state-owned national energy company, produced 7.95 billion kWh of electricity from January through June 2024, Trend reports.
According to the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan, this is an increase of 76.8 million kWh, or 1 percent, compared to the same period last year.
At the same time, technological losses at Barqi Tojik’s hydroelectric power stations amounted to 35.3 million kWh, or 0.44 percent of the produced electricity. This is a reduction of 3.5 million kWh, or 9 percent, compared to the same period last year.
Overall, the country's total electricity production for the first half of 2024, including output from small hydroelectric plants, reached 10.367 billion kWh. The figure decreased by 393.4 million kWh, or 3.7 percent, compared to the same period in 2023.
In 2023, Tajikistan produced over 21.8 billion kWh of electricity. More than 95 percent of the electricity in the country is produced by hydroelectric power plants.
