DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 30. The value of production in Tajikistan's manufacturing sector amounted to 12.9 billion somoni ($1.213 billion) in the first half of 2024, which is an 11 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023, Trend reports.
According to the country's Statistical Agency, food products, including beverages and tobacco, accounted for 4.8 billion somoni ($451.415 million). Textile and apparel production reached 1.5 billion somoni ($141.067 million).
Moreover, the production of wood and paper products, along with publishing activities, totaled 362.8 million somoni ($34.119 million). Oil products were produced at 38.3 million somoni ($3.601 million), while chemical products amounted to 242.7 million somoni ($22.824 million).
Non-metallic mineral products were valued at 1.8 billion somoni ($169.280 million), and the metallurgical sector, including finished metal products, reached 3.6 billion somoni ($338.561 million).
The total industrial production in the country reached 22.6 billion somoni ($2.133 billion) during the first half of 2024, which is an increase of 10.1 percent or 2.3 billion somoni ($217.157 million) compared to the same period in 2023.
Production increased in the Sughd region by 10.1 percent, in the Khatalon region by 5.1 percent, in Dushanbe by 23.1 percent, in the Regions of Republican Subordination by 18.8 percent, and in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region by 26.1 percent.
