Tajikistan identifies main factors behind inflation in 1H2024

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 6. The Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan has identified the main factors driving inflation for the first half of 2024, Trend reports.

According to the ministry, inflation in Tajikistan was 1.9 percent from January through June 2024, which is a decrease of 0.4 percentage points compared to the same period last year.

During this period, inflation was primarily driven by increases in food prices by 1.3 percent, non-food goods by 1.6 percent, and service tariffs by 4 percent.

Meanwhile, the country's National Bank has reported that monthly inflation for June 2024 was 0.1 percent, while the annual inflation rate as of the same months was reported at 3.5 percent.

For context, Tajikistan's inflation rate in 2023 was 3.8 percent, which was 0.4 percentage points lower than the 4.2 percent recorded in 2022.
