ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 11. Turkmenistan is discussing issues related to the transit of grain from the southern regions of the Russian Federation to the Persian Gulf countries through the Turkmenbashi International Seaport, Trend reports.

At the moment, Turkmenistan only imports grain from Russia using the 'Makhtumkuli', 'Turkmenistan' and 'Balkan' vessels, as well as using the infrastructure of the Turkmenbashi seaport.

Turkmenistan imports bulk of its cargo from the Astrakhan region of Russia. The cargo coming from Astrakhan is distributed between two terminals - the general cargo terminal and the bulk cargo terminal.

The general cargo terminal provides efficient unloading and loading services, which allows you to quickly and safely move cargo to land, and in the bulk cargo terminal, grain crops are separated in special grain silos before shipment.

Meanwhile, Turkmenistan actively imports flour from Russia in addition to grain. Thus, Turkmenistan imported 54,000 tons of flour from Russia in the 2022-2023 agricultural year (from July 1 last year through July 1 this year).
