Turkmenistan tallies number of ATMs in country

ASHGABAT, Azerbaijan, September 25. The number of ATMs in Turkmenistan from January through August 2024 amounted to 2,141 units.

The data obtained by Trend from the country's Central Bank (CBT) shows that the number of ATMs has slightly decreased by 0.19 percent compared to the beginning of 2024 (2,145 units).

The largest number of ATMs in the country falls on the state commercial bank “Dayhanbank”, which has 1,022 devices on its balance sheet. The second place is occupied by State Commercial Bank “Turkmenistan” (441), followed by JSCB “Turkmenbashi” (356).

The leader in the number of ATMs is the Ashgabat region, where 450 devices are installed. Mary and Lebap regions follow with 443 and 434 ATMs, respectively.

Note that the Central Bank of Turkmenistan is the main financial institution of the country and is responsible for issuing the national currency, regulating monetary policy, and controlling currency transactions. The Bank, founded in 1991, is actively involved in the implementation of the state financial strategy, managing the money supply, and ensuring the stability of the country's payment system.
