U.S. Ambassador George Krol congratulated the Uzbek people on Ramadan-Hayit, the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan reported.
"On behalf of the people of the United States, I extend my warmest wishes to the people of Uzbekistan on the occasion of Ramadan-Hayit," the message reads.
Followers of Islam around the world are united during the Holy Month of Ramadan through worship, fasting, and charity. In Uzbekistan and the United States alike this period of spiritual renewal brings families and communities together for celebration, he said.
"Today, millions of my fellow Americans who are Muslim join their religious brethren around the world, including Uzbekistan, in celebrating Ramadan-Hayit. On this holy day, let us consider how the people of the United States and the people of Uzbekistan can build on their common values of religious tolerance and understanding as the relations between our two countries grow," the message reads.
