Kengash (Council) of the Senate of the Uzbek Oliy Majlis, the upper house of the Uzbek parliament, has today passed a resolution on convening the 12th plenary session of the Senate on August 22 - 23, the Parliament said today.
The agenda of the Senate's plenary session includes the consideration of the laws on "Pledge registry", "Combating the spread of the disease caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)", "Conformity assessment" and the law on "Amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan", envisaging further improvement of the business sphere and business development.
It is planned to consider the report of Chairman of the Board of the Central Bank of the Republic for 2012 and discuss issues of environmental safety, the environment protection and human health at the next plenary session.
Other issues related to the competence of the Senate will be discussed at the plenary session, the report said.
The bicameral parliament was formed in Uzbekistan in 2005. Some 150 deputies elected in December 2009 from four political parties and the Uzbek Ecological Movement for a period of five years permanently work in the Legislative Chamber.
Around 100 equally elected deputies - six people from the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and Tashkent city are working in the upper house - the Senate. Moreover, sixteen members of the Senate are appointed by the Uzbek President among the most distinguished citizens with rich experience and special merits in the field of science, art, literature, industry and other spheres of public activity.
