The fire that occurred Sept.18 in the 14-storey business center building in the center of Tashkent, happened due to welding, the press service of the interior ministry of Uzbekistan said.
"During the inspection of the fire place, it was established that the fire occurred due to violation of fire safety during gas welding work on the repair of the heating system on one of the floors of the building," the message said. "There are no victims and injuries."
The central dispatch service for fire safety of Tashkent received the message about the fire on the front-end of the office building located on one of the central streets of the capital of Uzbekistan - the Amir Temur street in front of the Alay Bazaar (Oloy Market) and in the immediate vicinity of the Wyndham Tashkent hotel (formerly Dedeman Silk Road Tashkent) at 6:46 p.m. (GMT + 5 hours), according to the press service.
Fire brigades of the capital arrived on the spot. As a result of the measures taken, the fire was localized and soon eliminated by 7:33 p.m. (GMT + 5 hours).
Nearby buildings were not damaged.
