Uzbekistan shares macroeconomic forecasts

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 20. The growth of Uzbekistan’s economy will reach at least 5.5 percent by the end of 2022, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, said at a meeting on macroeconomic forecasts for the year-end and for 2023, Trend reports citing the Uzbek government.

Mirziyoyev noted that by year-end Uzbek exports will increase by more than 13 percent and total $19 billion.

He emphasized that the issues of employment increase and improving the living standards of the population remain a priority of the government.

In this regard, 8 trillion Uzbek soums ($712 million) were allocated from the budget to improve the infrastructure of mahallas (local self-government, variation of a municipality), as well as solve problems that have worried the population for many years. Meanwhile, 16.5 trillion Uzbek soums ($1.4 billion) have been allocated to improve the infrastructure of the regions.

Furthermore, at the meeting measures to develop sectors of the economy and regions, and support entrepreneurship were defined. In particular, important tasks were set to achieve next year the growth of the industry by 5.1 percent, agriculture - by 3.5 percent, and the service sector - by 14.1 percent.
