TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 8. In the first five months of 2024, Uzbekistan and South Korea transacted a total of $920.7 million in commerce, Trend reports.
This is a decrease of 10.6 percent from the same time last year ($1.03 billion in January-May 2023), according to statistics from Uzbekistan's Statistics Agency.
South Korea made the cut and landed in the top five countries with the biggest foreign trade turnover in Uzbekistan. The country's piece of the pie in the total volume of trade turnover in Uzbekistan was a drop in the bucket, accounting for a mere 3.4 percent.
During this month, Uzbekistan exported $16 million to South Korea, a decrease of 16.2 percent from the same period last year ($19.1 million in January–May 2023).
Uzbekistan imported $904.7 million from South Korea in January–May 2024. In January–May 2023, this amount fell 10.4 percent to $1.01 billion.
Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover volume amounted to $26.7 billion from January through May 2024. This is 3 percent more year-on-year ($25.9 billion in January–May 2023).
Uzbekistan's exports hit the jackpot at $10.8 billion from January through May 2024, while imports broke the bank at $15.9 billion.
