Increases recorded in quantity of Uzbekistan's imports

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 12. Uzbekistan's volume of imports amounted to $15.8 billion from January through May 2024, Trend reports.

As per data from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency, this figure has increased by 3.2 percent compared to the same period in 2023 ($15.3 billion in January–May 2023).

In the structure of imports, machinery and transportation equipment account for 37.3 percent, industrial goods for 15.2 percent, and chemicals and similar products for 12.3 percent.

The main import partners in the foreign trade turnover were China ($4.2 billion), Russia ($3.4 billion), Kazakhstan ($1 billion), and Korea ($904.7 million) from January through May 2024.

In the import structure of the country, a significant share was noted in the city of Tashkent, which is 52.7 percent, or $8.3 billion, and the smallest share was recorded at the level of 0.4percent, or $71.1 million, in Surkhandarya.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover volume amounted to $26.7 billion from January through May 2024. This figure indicates a 3 percent growth year-on-year ($25.9 billion in January–May 2023).

Uzbekistan's exports reached $10.8 billion, while imports totaled $15.9 billion during this period.
