TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, July 22. Chinese Limaomaoli Metal Company LLC started construction of the Surenata mining complex in Parkent district of Uzbekistan's Tashkent region, Trend reports.

According to Uzbekistan's Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology, the launch of the Surenata complex will allow for the production of 2.4 million tons of ore per year. The capacity of the complex is 1 million tons of iron ore concentrate per year.

Within the framework of the project, it is expected that $50 million will be invested in the iron ore project, which will eventually create 400–500 new jobs.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan produced 1.90 million tons of coal from January through May 2024. This figure has dropped by 3.5 percent year-on-year (1.97 million tons in January–May 2023).

At the same time, the country's Shargunkumir company has fully put into operation underground mechanized complexes, and daily coal production reached 3,500 tons.

Furthermore, with an additional 900,000 tons coming from businesses, the nation aims to generate 8 million tons of coal this year and by 2025. Uzbekistan expects to increase coal production to 10 million tons.
