Uzbekistan notes growth in import volumes for 7M2024

TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, August 30. Uzbekistan's volume of imports amounted to $22 billion from January through July 2024, Trend reports.

As per data from Uzbekistan’s Statistics Agency, this figure has increased by 10 percent compared to the same period in 2023 ($20 billion in January–July 2023).

In the structure of imports, machinery and transportation equipment accounted for 35.4 percent, industrial goods for 15.1 percent, and chemicals and similar products for 12.4 percent.

The main import partners in the foreign trade turnover were China ($5.6 billion), Russia ($4.6 billion), Kazakhstan ($1.5 billion), and Korea ($1 billion) from January through July 2024.

In the import structure of the country, a significant share was noted in the city of Tashkent, which is 52.5 percent, or $11.5 billion, and the smallest share was recorded at the level of 0.4 percent, or $85.4 million, in Surkhandarya.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover volume amounted to $36.8 billion from January through July 2024. This figure has increased by 5.4 percent year-on-year ($34.9 billion in January-July 2023).

The country's exports reached $14.7 billion from January through July 2024, while imports amounted to $22 billion.
