Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi is to meet with his Egyptian Counterpart Nabil al-Arabi in the frames of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) foreign ministers' meeting in Indonesia in June, the head of the center protecting Iran's interests in Egypt, Mojtaba Amani, was quoted as saying by the Iranian news agency MEHR.
Egypt now chairs the NAM and the meeting of foreign ministers is natural.
Iran broke off diplomatic ties with Egypt in 1980 after the Islamic revolution in protest at Cairo's recognition of Israel, and the two countries now maintain only interests sections in their respective capitals.
Relations between Iran and Egypt have improved since President Hosni Mubarak's overthrow.
Earlier, Salehi and Al-Arabi stressed the importance of developing ties between the two countries.
