Despite dropping of Iranian currency to its lowest value ever against the dollar, the head of the Central Bank skipped a meeting on the topic at the Majlis (parliament), Mehr news agency reported.
A meeting scheduled today with the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) chief Mahmoud Bahmani was cancelled when he did not appear, Mohammad Reza Bahonar, who is the vice-president of the Majlis, said.
Members of Iran's Majlis asked for the session to discuss monetary policies and the recent wild fluctuations in the currency market. Since Iran's economy minister accompanied President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad during his Latin America tour, Mr. Bahmani was invited by the Majlis. He announced the meeting was cancelled when the Central Bank chief didn't appear at 11:00 as scheduled.
