BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 19. A total of 4.05 trillion rials ($9.97 million) was expended on commissioning food processing plants in Fars Province, located in southern Iran, during the 4 months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through July 21, 2024), representative of Iran's Ministry of Agriculture Mahmoud Baseri said, Trend reports.
According to him, 23 food industry enterprises have been put into operation in Fars Province in four months. About 229 people have been provided with jobs due to putting the enterprises into operation.
Baseri added that the production potential of food processing enterprises is 43,000 tons. These enterprises will be able to receive more than 53,000 tons of agricultural products from different regions of the region.
The official noted that the commissioning of food industry enterprises led to the reduction of more than 9,000 tons of waste in the agricultural sector.
To note, Iran produces more than 130 million tons of agricultural products annually.
The total area of agricultural land in Iran is more than 12 million ha.
