BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 22. The essential products imported to Iran during the five months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through August 21, 2024) increased by 1.7 percent in value and 14.4 percent in weight compared to the same period last year (from March 21, through August 22, 2023), the statistics of Iran's Customs Administration said, Trend reports.
A whopping 10.3 million tons of must-have products worth a staggering $6.3 billion were brought into Iran during the five months.
In particular, the following commodities were brought into the nation during that time: 4.6 million tons of maize, 1.3 million tons of pressed soybeans, 1.1 million tons of vegetable oilseeds, 825,000 tons of barley, and 608,000 tons of other oils.
To note, Iran mainly focuses on the import of products needed by the country and imposes certain restrictions on the import of products manufactured in the country.
