BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 2. Iran's agricultural exports increased by 33 percent in value and 22 percent in weight during the first five months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through August 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year (from March 21 through August 22, 2023), the statement of Iran's Customs Administration said, Trend reports.
Iran exported 2.65 million tons of agricultural products worth $1.5 billion during the five months.
Meanwhile, Iran mainly exported pistachios worth $352 million, tomatoes - $177 million, apples - $111 million, watermelons - $108 million, and potatoes - $52 million over the five months.
Iran exported 60.5 million tons of non-oil products worth $21.9 billion during the five months. Over the five months, exports of non-oil products increased by 10 percent in value and 7 percent in weight compared to the same period last year.
Iran produces, on average, more than 130 million tons of agricultural products annually.
The total area of agricultural land in Iran is more than 12 million hectares.
