Iranian Hormozgan Province’s eastern ports note surge in non-oil exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 11. The export of non-oil products through the eastern ports of Hormozgan province, located in the south of Iran, increased by 48 percent during the first five months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through August 21, 2024) compared to the same period last year, the director of the eastern ports of Hormozgan province, located in the south of Iran, Hamid Reza Mohammad Hosseini told reporters, Trend reports.

According to him, about 758,000 tons of non-oil products were exported from the ports located in the east of Hormozgan province during the mentioned five months. However, during the same period last year (from March 21 through August 22, 2023), about 512,000 tons of non-oil products were exported from the ports located in the east of the province.

Mohammad Hosseini added that 43,300 tons of non-oil products were imported to the country via ports located in the east of the province during the five months. The import of the products increased by 16 percent compared to the same period last year. In the same period last year, product imports totaled 37,500 tons.

The official noted that about 1.2 million tons of products were loaded and unloaded in the eastern ports of the province during the five months. The volume of loaded and unloaded products increased by 27 percent compared to the same period last year.

He stated that 34,100 tons of products were transported through the eastern ports of Hormozgan province during the five months. Transit increased by 28 percent compared to the same period last year.

To note, 9 ports are operating in the east of Iran's Hormozgan Province. Among these ports, Shahid Bahonar, Tiyab, and Kask are considered operating ports.
