Iran's GDP keeps growing

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 18. The value of Iran's GDP (Gross Domestic Product) increased by 3.17 percent during the three months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through June 20, 2024), if crude oil is counted, compared to the same period last year (March 21 through June 21, 2023).

The data obtained by Trend from the country's Central Bank shows that the value of GDP for the three months, including crude oil, amounted to 3.9 quadrillion rials (about $9 billion) in current prices. However, in the same period last year, the figure was 3.78 quadrillion rials (about $8.73 billion).

Iran's Central Bank announced the GDP statistics in both current prices and eight-year-old prices (from March 21, 2015 through March 20, 2016), which are considered an index for the country. The information includes current prices.

Statistics show that Iran's GDP volume excluding crude oil amounted to 3.48 quadrillion rials (about $8.03 billion) during the three months. Excluding crude oil, the GDP volume increased by 2.35 percent compared to the same period last year. During the same period last year, excluding crude oil, the value of GDP was about 3.4 quadrillion rials (about $7.84 billion).

According to statistics, GDP in the crude oil and gas extraction sector grew by 9.5 percent during the first three months of this year compared to the first three months of last year. The agricultural sector grew by 3 percent, the mining sector by 5.1 percent, the industrial sector by 3.1 percent, the energy sector (electricity, water, and gas) by 1.2 percent, and the services sector by 1.9 percent.
