BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 5. Iran is currently negotiating with two countries to swap Turkmen gas to Azerbaijan via Iran, the Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad told reporters, Trend reports.
He stated that these discussions will be elaborated upon once outcomes are attained.
Paknejad noted that at the same time negotiations on gas cooperation with Russia are ongoing.
The Iranian minister noted that Iran has fully fulfilled its obligations under the gas export agreements with Türkiye and Iraq. Necessary preparations are underway to start negotiations on the extension of the contract for Iranian gas exports to Türkiye. Türkiye is interested in continuing gas imports from Iran.
To note, an agreement on the swap of Turkmen gas to Azerbaijan via Iran was signed on November 28, 2021, in Turkmenistan's capital, Ashgabat. The deal was cut for a swap of 3.8 bcm of gas.
