TEHRAN, Iran. Jan.3
Trend:
Steel production and export of Iran's Esfahan Steel Company in the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2021) has dropped due to power and gas outages in summer and autumn, Deputy of managing director for purchases at the company, Mohammad Jafar Salehi told Trend.
"Esfahan Steel Company currently produces different types of steel products such as steel structures and steel tracks for city trains," Salehi noted.
He noted that the company is seeking to start manufacturing new products that are currently in demand.
"The production of wires has resumed, after a pause in recent years," he added.
Salehi said that if the raw material is provided, the company would reach the production level that was predicted in the budget plan for the next Iranian year (starts March 21, 2022).
Meanwhile, the power outage in the summer affected the company's access to raw material.
"It is difficult to compensate for the loss that occurred during the summer. The government has not fulfilled its promise to provide raw materials yet," Salehi stressed.
He said the company is determined to continue production, hoping that Iran's Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, IMIDRO and the parliament will find a way to help the steel industry, so that the market won't be negatively affected.
Esfahan Steel Company has produced 1.9 million tons of cast iron in the first seven months of the current Iranian year. The predicted plan was 3 million tons, which couldn't be fulfilled due to power outages.
