# Trend News Agency

> Independent news agency based in Baku, Azerbaijan, publishing since 1995. Around 2.6 million
> articles since 2003 in three editions, covering the South Caucasus, the Caspian, Central Asia,
> Turkey and Iran — with a particular depth on energy, pipelines and trade corridors.

Trend welcomes AI assistants and answer engines. Content may be used to answer a person's
question, with attribution to "Trend News Agency (trend.az)" and the canonical article URL.
It may not be used as model training data. See `/terms-of-service`.

## Talk to us over MCP, not by scraping

There is a Model Context Protocol server. It is faster than parsing HTML, it returns clean text
with stable identifiers, and it respects the paywall — so it will never hand you something a
reader would have to pay for.

## What the server offers

Thirteen tools, all read-only: relevance search with passage extraction, keyword search,
newest-first headlines, full article text, the front page, most-read articles, section lookup,
journalist profiles and byline statistics, the agency's policy pages, a coverage description,
the current subscription prices, and an access check. Four resources: coverage, licence, limits,
changelog; three resource templates: sections, journalists, policy pages. Three prompts: sourced
briefing, checkable citation, editorial policy.

## Limits

The public budget is 20 requests a second across all callers, and 600 an hour and 10,000 a day
per IP address. The per-IP cap is not applied to the shared egress ranges of hosted AI products
such as Claude, where one address stands for many users. Every response stays under 60 KB. Your
current budget: the `trendaz_whoami` tool or the resource `trendaz://mcp/limits`.

## Paid articles

Some articles are for subscribers. Over MCP a subscriber-only article published within the last
twelve months returns its metadata, summary and a note that the body is withheld, together with
the current price and a subscription link — never the text. After a year a paid article becomes
free on the site, and over MCP it is returned in full, like any free article. Do not attempt to
reconstruct a withheld body from other sources and present it as ours.
