According to the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee, the volume of construction work in Azerbaijan increased by 28.6 percent as of early December 2012 compared to the same period of last year. In particular, the volume of construction work carried out by state-owned companies hit 24.8 percent of the total amount of work, while private companies - 75.2 percent
Some 73 percent of the total volume of construction work fell to the primary construction, reconstruction and expansion, 13.8 percent - overhaul, 2.3 percent - current repair, 10.9 percent - other construction work.
In November, volume of housing commissioning in Azerbaijan increased by 1.6 times compared to October, while compared to November 2011 by 3.05 times.
In November, 222,400 square meters of housing were commissioned compared to 139,300 square meters in October.
Some 1.559.1 million square meters of housing were commissioned in January-November 2012 compared to 1.579.8 million square meters a year earlier. A 1.3 percent - decrease was observed in these volumes.
Prices for primary housing market of Baku in October-November increased by 0.6 percent. According to the NGO "Property Market Participants", in October-November, average price per square meter in the primary market amounted to 810.5 manat compared to 805.7 in September.
Prices increased by one per cent compared the previous quarter, while compared to the same period of the previous year - by 2.1 percent. Compared to pre-crisis period (September 2008) prices fell by 32.1 percent (from 1,194 manat per square meter). By January 2012, prices fell by 1.8 percent.
Stability is reigning on the market. In October-November construction of 419 buildings continued in Baku, the number of building companies was 148.
