Three miners were killed in a methane explosion at a coal mine in western Georgia, officials said Saturday, dpa reported.
Seven miners were seriously injured in the blast at the mine located near the city of Tkibuli, Interior Minister Vano Merabishvili was quoted as saying by the news website civil.ge.
Four miners were killed in a similar accident at the same mine in March. Such accidents occur frequently in the former Soviet Union because of inadequate safety measures.
