A strike of municipal bus drivers continues in Tbilisi. This is despite the fact they were going to resume work on Monday, but at the last moment decided to continue their action.

This was done after the drivers learned on television about a slight increase in their salaries. They stated that they actually received a much smaller one.

Tbilisi's Mayor Gigi Ugulava yesterday made an initiative to transfer the metro and city's motor transport company to the management of the Economy Ministry.

The Economy Ministry urged Tbilisi Mayor's Office to resolve the transportation problems itself.

"The Tbilisi Transport Company and Tbilisi Metro are municipal facilities and therefore the capital municipality is obliged to ensure a proper operation of these facilities and solve all the problems arising from them.

"Accordingly, the statement made by Tbilisi Mayor on Rustavi-2 TV company on Nov.11, is an attempt to evade responsibility," the economy ministry told Trend on Monday.
