USA and Georgia to fight smuggling of nuclear and radioactive materials together

(Prime-News) вЂ" USA and Georgia will fight smuggling of nuclear and radioactive materials together.

The document was signed by Gela Bezhuashvili, Foreign Minister of Georgia and John F. Tefft, The US Ambassador to Georgia at the Foreign Minsitry of Georgia on Friday.

The document, elaborated by Georgian and Amerikan experts, aims to equip relevant offices with necessary accessories, to exchange of information between Georgian and U.S. relevant offices, to monitor the former military bases in Georgia and to store the discovered radioactive materials adequately, reports Trend.

Georgia urges all states, including neighbouring ones for this type of cooperation, as smuggling and transit of weapon of mass destruction represents threat to the international security. Bexhuashvili stated to journalists after the signing ceremony.

Bezhuashvili and Teft said after signing the document that Russia should also join such international programs.
