Azerbaijan, Baku, April 14 / Trend /

Qaddafi has accused Qatar of providing Libyan rebels with French arms, Turkish media reported.

During the press conference Libyan Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Kaim also accused Shiite Hezbollah in participating in the opposition battles against Qaddafi's forces in the western town Misurata.

He also said that about 20 Qatari specialists are in Benghazi to train the rebels. He stressed that the Libyan authorities will soon receive detailed information on missiles and weapons that Qatar provides the Libyan rebels.

Qatar and France are a part of the coalition conducting military operations in Libya.

Mass demonstrations demanding for the ouster of Qaddafi, who has been ruling the country for more than 40 years, started in Libya in mid-February and subsequently grew into an armed confrontation between the government forces and the rebels. International organizations say there are thousands of victims but the Libyan government denies such reports.

On March 17, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution envisioning the introduction of a no-fly zone over Libya and opening the opportunity of foreign military intervention with the North African country.

The operation started on March 19. Later, on March 31, the NATO Commandment took over the campaign under the name of United Defender. NATO says the aim of the operation is to ban weapons supply to Libya, establish a no-fly zone, and undertake measures to defend civilians.
