Today clashes broke out between army and opponents of President Bashar al-Assad's regime in the Syrian town of Deir al-Zour, as a result of which 34 people were killed. There are 10 minors among the dead, Qatari "Al Jazeera" TV channel reported.
More than 800 people were killed in many cities during the clashes with Syrian police and army, when people demanded President Bashar al-Assad's resignation. According to authorities, this figure does not exceed a hundred. Furthermore, the dead were not civilians but rather members of terrorist groups.
Following the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's meeting with the Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, Assad said the authorities do not intend to stop combating terrorist elements.
On Monday, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Bahrain recalled their ambassadors from Damascus in protest to events in Syria.
Some 145 protesters were killed in the Syrian city of Hama in the first day of Ramadan.
On Aug. 9, Davutoglu visited Syria and held a six-hour meeting with the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. While Davutoglu discussed developments in Syria with the Syrian leader in Damascus the military killed six civilians escaping clashes in the country on the Turkish-Syrian border.
