Egyptian Security Forces arrested 20 people suspected of being involved in attacks on Arish police stations and gas pipelines, state media reported Thursday.
The North Sinai Security Chief Saleh al-Masry said the captured 20 people, including a number of Palestinians, belonged to Jihadist cells, Xinhua reported.
Al-Masry reiterated that some of the arrested were recruited to carry out attacks in Sinai. Their targets were to form a separate entity and impose their control over the whole society of Egypt.
He ruled out that the attackers belonged to al-Qaida.
Dozens of masked militants broke up the Arish Police Station at the end of July, leaving at least 6 people dead.
Egyptian Security Forces and policemen have launched campaigns to uproot all the terrorist cells and arrest those responsible for Sinai gas pipeline explosion.
