Three soldiers, two protesters killed southern Syria

Three soldiers were killed on Friday when they refused to open fire on demonstrators in the southern Syrian city of Daraa, activists said, DPA reported.

The Local Coordination Committees of Syria (LCC), an online group that has been documenting protests, said that they were killed in clashes with security forces.

Two protesters were also killed when they were fired on by security forces in the city, and four others were injured, the LCC added.

The reports are hard to verify as authorities have banned foreign media and international rights groups from entering the country since unrest began in March.
