The Egyptian armed forces denied on Monday that its earlier statement was meant as a military coup and said it aimed to push all political factions to reach consensus, dpa reported.
The army said it always "supported the people's will and aspirations towards reform and change" and that its statement was a response to the "pulse of the Egyptian street."
