Two French tourists, one Belgian and their Bolivian driver died in a car accident in a salt flat in southern Bolivia, reported dpa.

One German visitor and one Japanese citizen were injured and had to be taken to hospital in the city of Uyuni.

The tourists' vehicle had an accident Sunday in the Salar de Uyuni, the world's largest salt flat, some 650 kilometres south of La Paz, the reports said citing police.

The vehicle was reportedly travelling at excessive speed.

In May, 10 foreign tourists - from Japan and Israel - and three Bolivian guides died in the salt flat, in a head-on collision between two jeeps. The authorities did not know how they came to collide at excessive speed in the huge salt flat, one of Bolivia's greatest tourist attractions. dpa ro mr vs aw
