Vienna Hosting Workshop to Discuss OSCE’s Role in Development of Election Processes

Austria, Vienna, 22 July / Trend corr. A.Alaskarov/ A workshop headed by OSCE's Finnish administration began in Vienna on 21 July to discuss OSCE's role in the assistance to development of election processes via observation over elections.

OSCE representatives from 56 countries, other international organizations and NGOs, as well as outstanding scientists, will discuss fulfilment of commitments to OSCE, observation over elections and technical aid.

The 2-day workshop assembled over 250 participants from all OSCE regions to discuss better methods for fulfilment of election-related commitments and observation over elections. Best observation methods and OSCE technical aid will be also considered.

OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's Vice-President Kimmo Kiljunen, who is experienced in elections observation, said the OSCE countries participating in the workshop, from Vancouver to Vladivostok, may take use of OSCE expertise to develop their election systems.
