A 56-year-old woman has been confirmed killed during the sudden strike by a strong wind in Myanmar's second largest city of Mandalay, according to Mondays's local Weekly Eleven News.
The victim was stuck to death in her house by a fallen tree, the report said, adding that another 70-year-old man was injured in the tragedy, Xinhua reported.
A half-hour strong wind with a heavy rainfall struck at a speed of 50 miles (80 kilometers) per hour in Mandalay on May 6, bringing down a number of billboards, trees and power and telephone cables and blowing off some roofs of houses.
The damage was minor compared with last year's deadly cyclone Nargis which swept Myanmar's five divisions and states -- Ayeyawaddy, Yangon, Bago, Mon and Kayin, of which Ayeyawaddy and Yangon inflicted the heaviest casualties and massive infrastructure damage.
That storm on last year's May 2 and 3 killed 84,537 people and left 53,836 missing and 19,359 injured according to official death toll. ree in NW Pakistan
