Turkey announced Monday all educational institutions in the country will take a recess this Friday for a four-day break to be disinfected against the A/H1N1 flu, reported a Turkish newspaper on its website.
Turkey's National Education Ministry said buildings and gardens in educational institutions, including pre-schools, elementary and secondary schools, private schools and study centers, will be disinfected against the deadly virus during the break, Xinhua quoted Hurriyet Daily News as reporting on its website.
The one-day recess follows Oct. 29, a Turkish national holiday, and precedes the weekend, hence classes will be suspended for four days, said the report.
Turkish Health Minister Recep Akdag said in a press conference Monday vaccinating in schools will start during the last week of November and continue until January 2010, added the report.
Turkey reported its first A/H1N1 death case of a 29-year-old patient who died in the capital city of Ankara on Saturday.
The number of A/H1N1 flu cases in Turkey has reached 958, according to the newspaper.
