A police officer was killed in an armed attack in central Turkey on Tuesday, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported.
The 36-year-old police officer Omer Durmaz was shot twice by an unidentified gunman during a traffic control in the central province of Konya and he died at the scene, Xinhua reported.
It was revealed that he was shot at close range with a handgun, said the report.
Witnesses said that they saw a person on a red motorcycle fleeing the scene of the attack, said the report, adding that Turkish police cordoned off the area and began searching for the gunman.
