BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 31. The number and volume of transactions made with American Express payment cards issued by non-resident financial institutions in Azerbaijan by the end of April 2025 reached 1,400, with the total transaction volume hitting 1.1 million manat ($647,000).
Data obtained by Trend from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) the number of transactions rose by 600, marking a 75 percent increase, while the transaction volume grew by 500,000 manat ($294,117), an increase of 83.3 percent, compared to the end of March 2025.
Concurrently, the transaction metrics culminated at 800 by the
conclusion of March 2025, reflecting a throughput of 600,000 manat
($352,941).
It is noteworthy that the aggregate volume of transactions executed
via payment cards disseminated by non-resident financial entities
culminated at 1.4 million by the conclusion of April 2025,
reflecting a total transactional value of 140.5 million manat
(equivalent to $82.6 million).
Payment instruments disseminated by extraterritorial financial
entities are those disseminated by banking or financial
organizations not duly registered within the jurisdiction of
