BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 10. Azerbaijan's local budget revenues in 2024 increased by 7.1 million manat ($4.1 million) (18.6 percent) compared to the previous year, including revenues from local taxes by 3.4 million manat ($2 million) (21.2 percent), from January through September 2024, Trend reports via Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee.

In order to increase the financial capacity of municipalities in 2024, measures to improve budget revenues have been continued. Measures on clarification of the order of accounting of taxation objects and taxation of unaccounted objects, as well as on legal calculation and collection of taxes and other receivables, are included. In addition, work is underway to bring the rent for municipal land leased in previous years in line with current market prices.

Moreover, it was emphasized that the legal and efficient use of municipal lands in the interests of the local population also has a positive impact on the growth of local budget revenues. The continuity of work in this direction was maintained throughout the year.

According to the law “On administrative control over the activity of municipalities,” administrative control over the activity of municipalities is carried out by the relevant body of executive power of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Pursuant to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the application of the Law “On Administrative Control over Activity of Municipalities,” the powers of the relevant executive authority stipulated in Article 3.1 of this Law are exercised by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
