ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 17. Farmers in Turkmenistan's Lebap region have significantly surpassed their potato harvest benchmarks, collecting a total of nearly 20,000 tons from 1,400 hectares, well above the state plan, Trend reports.

Local farmers are now actively preparing for the upcoming planting season, with plans to sow 900 hectares with autumn potatoes.

The preparation includes thorough soil treatment using both organic and mineral fertilizers, as well as selecting high-yield varieties.

Farmers have set an ambitious target to achieve a potato yield of 140 quintals per hectare.

Currently, potato planting has been carried out on 250 hectares in the Sayat district, 120 hectares in the Danevsky district, and 90 hectares in the Khalach district.
