ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 14. Kazakhstan and the UK are in discussions to implement projects aimed at modernizing sewage treatment facilities and other initiatives within Kazakhstan, says the country's Ministry of Industry and Construction, Trend reports.
Bakytzhan Junisbekov, head of the Committee for Construction and Housing and Communal Services at Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development, met with Vomik Nur Shah, the global business development and client relations leader at UK Export Finance (UKEF).
Their discussions highlighted a shared understanding of mutual goals and outlined steps for future collaboration.
Following their meeting, UKEF expressed interest in participating in water treatment projects. Both sides also exchanged initial insights regarding the project structure and potential strategies for recovering investment and operational costs for stakeholders.
Meanwhile, total trade in goods and services (exports and imports combined) between the UK and Kazakhstan reached £2.7 billion in the four quarters ending Q1 2024. This marks a 12.1-percent increase, or £296 million, compared to the same period ending Q1 2023.
