ASTANA, Kazakhstan, October 30. Large Australian companies are interested in collaborating to develop the mining and metallurgy sector in Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
Diana Abylaikimova, the foreign representative of "KAZAKH INVEST" in Singapore, took part in the 2024 International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) in Sydney, Australia. During the event, the Kazakh delegation engaged with major Australian companies interested in partnering and advancing Kazakhstan's mining and metallurgical sector.
In a meeting with Angela Walker, Managing Director of Fortescue Metals Group for the Asia-Pacific region and Central Asia, they discussed ongoing geological exploration projects in Kazakhstan. Walker indicated that the company intends to continue its exploration efforts in the country and is exploring a shift toward eco-friendly electricity generation and potential mineral extraction.
Sean Gregory, Managing Director of Sarytogan Graphite, provided updates on the development of the Sarytogan graphite deposit in the Karaganda region. He noted that Sarytogan is among the largest and highest-quality deposits globally, strategically positioned between major battery manufacturers in Europe and China.
The delegation also met with representatives from Russell Mineral Equipment, a leading global manufacturer of mill lining replacement technologies, to discuss the possibility of establishing a regional service center in Kazakhstan, potentially leading to local production.
Furthermore, negotiations took place with key Australian organizations, including Austrade, Austmine, and Trade & Investment Queensland, to enhance bilateral trade and investment cooperation in the mining and metallurgy sectors.
Overall, Australian companies and organizations expressed significant interest in strengthening collaboration, with hopes for regular engagement and expanded dialogue in the future.
