BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 18. The aggregate tonnage of maritime freight movement during the interval spanning January to November 2024 reached a total of 7.9 million tons.
The data obtained by Trend from the State Statistical Committee shows that this metric exhibited a decrement of 4.6 percent relative to the corresponding timeframe in 2023.
Seaports handled more than 12.9 million tons, of which 10.37 million tons (80.3 percent) were transit cargo.
As of December 1, 2024, the cargo still hanging around in the ports weighed in at a hefty 591,300 tons.
During 11 months of the current year, the number of passengers carried by sea transport in Azerbaijan increased by 19.3 percent compared to the same period of 2023 and amounted to 26,000 people.
