ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 20. The cargo turnover of the Mangistau division of freight transportation in Kazakhstan increased by 1.3 percent for the 11 months of 2024, Trend reports via the Kazakhstan Railways.
According to the information, the cargo turnover on the Mangistau division's network grew by 1.3 percent for the first 11 months of 2024 compared to the same period last year, reaching 6.9 billion tonne-kilometers (tkm) net. The transportation plan was fulfilled by 19 percent.
Since September 2024, the "Sarzha" terminal at the Kuryk port has been operating a direct transshipment system for grain from railcars to vessels. This process has already shown its effectiveness, with 6 ships dispatched, carrying a total of 24,200 tons of grain.
It is also worth noting the launch of a new grain terminal at the Kuryk port, which has a transshipment capacity of up to 1 million tons of grain per year. The terminal is equipped with modern facilities for storing up to 27,000 tons of grain. Since its launch in September 2024, 3 ships have already been dispatched with 11,700 tons of grain.
To note, in 2024, the Mangistau division for the first time conducted the shipment and dispatch of ammonium nitrate through the Aktau and Kuryk ports along the TITR route, with further transit through the Azerbaijani port of Govsan and the Batumi port in Georgia. For this route, 50,000 tons of ammonium nitrate are planned for shipment to end users worldwide.
