BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 13. Azerbaijan exported 628,000 tons of fruits and vegetables worth $610 million from January through November last year.
Data obtained by Trend from the country's State Customs Committee reveals that the value of exported fruits and vegetables decreased by $13.2 million (2 percent) compared to the same period in 2023, while the volume dropped by 31,700 tons (4.9 percent).
Moreover, fruits and vegetables accounted for just 2.58 percent of the country's total exports during the reporting period and 20.32 percent of non-oil exports.
Additionally, Azerbaijan imported 325,800 tons of fruits and vegetables, totaling $246.5 million in the first 11 months of the previous year. This represents an increase of $45.6 million (22.7 percent) in value and 13,200 tons (4.2 percent) in volume compared to the same period in 2023.
Meanwhile, fruits and vegetables made up 1.31 percent of the country's total imports during the reporting period.
Notably, Azerbaijan's fruit and vegetable exports exceeded imports by more than 2.5 times in value and more than 1.9 times in volume from January through November 2024.
