ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 24. Atyrau in Kazakhstan is set to become home to a sugar processing factory, Trend reports.

Akim of the Atyrau region, Serik Shapkenov, met with management of the Goldbridge International Company. The sides discussed the sugar production project in the Atyrau region.

“The project aims to meet the sugar demand not only in the region but also across the country. We exchanged experience with a leading Chinese company that produces yeast from beets and thoroughly studied their technology. They supported our project and are ready to invest 80 percent of the funds. The implementation of our project in the Atyrau region will take one and a half years. If the official documents are ready on time, we will launch the plant in the summer of 2026. In addition to sugar, we will produce four other types of products. We ask you to provide land for this purpose,” said the company representative.

Shapkenov noted that 90 percent of the sugar is currently imported from other countries. The regional leader supported the project presented by Goldbridge and assured that he would provide necessary assistance.

“For us, this is a needed and effective project. The lands in Atyrau are suitable for growing beets. I am confident that with such projects, we will provide the domestic market with our products and open up opportunities for the development of the agricultural sector. We are ready to provide the necessary infrastructure,” said Shapkenov.

In conclusion, they agreed to consider options for providing land and prepare the necessary documents for the signing of a memorandum.

Additionally, the plant will produce 144,000 tons of product annually.
