BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 30. The number of vehicles transiting through Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in 2024 has significantly increased by 25,135 units, or 19 percent, compared to the same period in 2023, said the Deputy Head of the Nakhchivan Customs Department Rashad Bayramov, Trend reports.

Sharing the update at an event marking the results of 2024 and the upcoming tasks, Bayramov reported that the volume of imports registered by the Nakhchivan Main Customs Department in 2024 amounted to $115 million, while export operations totaled $10.6 million.

He also mentioned that the Customs Department collected customs duties totaling 107.4 million manat ($63.1 million), which is an increase of 3.8 million manat ($2.2 million) or 3.6 percent compared to 2023.

Bayramov highlighted that after the adjustment of the "Road Tax for vehicles registered in foreign countries," as stipulated by the "Budget Law of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for 2024," the autonomous republic received 22.2 million manat ($13 million), exceeding the forecasted 12 million manat ($7 million) by 85 percent.

"For the year, the number of vehicles entering Nakhchivan in transit reached over 158,332, with transit exits at 157,618 and entries. Additionally, 94,632 vehicles entered the country, and 95,311 vehicles left. Compared to the same period in 2023, the number of vehicles transiting through the Autonomous Republic increased by 25,135 units, reflecting a significant rise of 19 percent," he said.
